ALAN TURNER TO APPEAR AT THE HISTORIC MICHIGAN THEATRE

Nashville Recording Artist, Alan Turner and the Steel Horse Band will be performing April 2nd at the historic Michigan Theatre in Jackson, MI.  Tickets are available at the Michigan Theater box office in advance for $12 or the night of the show for $15.  Doors open at 7 PM.

Alan Turner and the band have had an explosive year with nationwide country music radio play!  Including their most recent Top 100 Inspirational hit, Preacher Man and Me which peaked at #2 and stayed at that spot for 9 weeks! (Jan/Feb 2016).

They’ve just released their new album, Nowhere Town USA and a brand new single, which is taking the country market by storm:  American Pride!  Don’t miss this LIVE One Night Only Event!

The Michigan Theatre, the last and largest theater built in downtown Jackson, opened April 30, 1930. It was built for the mainstream popular entertainment of the day — vaudeville and movies. For just pennies, the public was treated like royalty as it passed under a glittering marque into a Hollywood Fantasyland. The building’s exotic Spanish style, lavish interior plaster work, ornate poly-chrome terracotta facade, carved walnut furniture, plush wool carpeting, heavy damask draperies, stained glass light fixtures, and oil paintings entertained the patrons as much as the attractions on the stage and screen. It was the first air conditioned building in downtown Jackson and offered a place to escape the summer heat.

Many of our Jackson residents remember seeing their first movie in this theater. They fondly remember entering through the massive doors, gliding up the incline to the theatre lobby, smelling the freshly popped popcorn, and seeing the vast interior of the theatre. Suddenly they were transported through time to a familiar, comfortable place in history.
